Welcome to Béal an Phobail: website of the Sliabh Liag peninsula language planning initiative. This initiative aims to support the speaking and use of Irish in southwest Donegal, in a region including the parishes of Cill Charthaigh and Gleann Cholm Cille, as well as areas in the parish of Ard an Rátha.
Lár-Chomhairle Paróiste Ghleann Cholm Cille (LCPG) is a community development committee that aims to address development needs in the parish of Gleann Cholm Cille. There is currently a vacancy for a Community Development Officer who will implement the programme of work for the parish.
Further infomration is available from the link below.
As part of this initiative we are conducting a survey regarding the use of Irish in the area. Volunteers will distribute a questionnaire to houses in the area beginning on March 6th, 2017. We would be very grateful to members of the local community if they could share their opinions by filling out this questionnaire — it only takes a few minutes to complete! If you would like to read the questionnaire in advance you can download a copy from the link below.
The survey results will be published on this website later this year.
This website is currently under development. More information regarding the language planning initiative and opportunities to use Irish in the community and in business will be added to the website soon. We would appreciate opinions and suggestions as regards material from the community — please contact us at the details below.
